La Prunelle RDC, a media organisation, and the Collectif 2250, a youth peace organisation, both based in Bukavu (Democratic Republic of the Congo), joined organizations around the world in signing on to this year’s appeal for the Global Days of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS).
They stated: “Weapons destroy and kill, and we have to use these budgets for peace. The world spent 2 trillion dollars in 2021 on military worldwide, and this budget could be used to build roads and connect communities in Africa’s Great Lakes region. These budgets for war and weapons keep us in cycles of violence! It’s time to call on governments to cut military spending and invest in common and human security. #GivePeaceABudget #GDAMS2022
