In 2020, the annual IPB Séan MacBride Peace was awarded to US-based movement Black Lives Matter (BLM) and the International Signature Campaign in Support of the Appeal of the Hibakusha, one of the largest global signature campaigns to date, launched in 2016 by Japanes organization HIDANKYO.

On March, 17th 2021 at 17.00 JST/Tokyo, 9.00 CET, the Prize will formally be awarded during a virtual Ceremony featuring speeches by IPB Co-Presidents Lisa Clark and Philip Jennings, remarks by IPB-Board Member Asato Rieko and HIDANKYO Co-Chair Terumi Tanaka and Moderation by IPB Executive Director Reiner Braun.
