Move the Money Sydney
About 40 peace activists from the Australian Anti-Bases Campaign and the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IAPAN) gathered in Town Hall Square in the centre of Sydney. They asked people
passing by to reallocate the $67 billion allocated by the government to buy and service 12 submarines and 75 F35 war planes for the Australian military. A container of 670 counters with a clear label of $100 million on each was placed in the centre of the table. Passers by were encourage to move money from the military and put it into jars marked with signs such as education, environment, refugees, health, Aboriginal rights and more. At the end of the 2 hour stretch at the Town Hall there was not much money left for the military!
