2019 Global Days of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS) have already started and will go on until May 9. This special period of actions is based on the cooperative efforts of more than 100 pacifist organizations around the world, and for the occasion we have prepared these 2 infographics using data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Please feel free to use them and share them so we can get the word out on the nonsense of militarization!

Next week Jordi Calvo, Vice President of the IPB and director of Centre Delàs of Peace Research in Barcelona, will take part as Coordinator of the GCOMS campaign in the International Conference on Universal Protection and Labour in Kathmandu, Nepal, which will take place from April 4 to 6 and is organised by the Asia Europe People’s Forum, Social Justice and Peace and Security Clusters and Integrated Development Society Nepal. The conference will analyse the situation in Europe and Asia regarding unemployment, poverty and inequality, migration and climate crisis, as well as its consequences for democracy with the emergence of rightwing populism. Once again, we are ready to spread the word on pacifism and social justice and raise awareness on the crucial issue of military spending.
For this year’s Global Days of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS), that will take place from April 13 to May 9, among many other actions, we are glad to re-launch the Selfie Campaign together with all of you. As you already know, 2019 GDAMS’ slogan is “Demilitarize! invest in people’s needs” and for the Selfie Campaign we are going to use 2 banners, one with this slogan and another one with the line ‘#MoveTheMoney to…’, with a blank space underneath to be filled in with your own proposals to redirect those $1.82 trillion to.
To participate in the selfie campaign you just need to follow these 4 steps:
1. Download (by clicking in the images), print and fill it in with your proposal as to where that money should go.
Creativity is more than welcome, so please feel free to prepare the banners in your own way!
2. Take a picture, alone or in group, you can compose the picture as you prefer!
3. Once you have the picture, publish it in your own social media, tagging us:
